With schools being on summer break, the Madison Metropolitan School District is taking the opportunity to add new safety precautions.
The district is partnering with local company Singlewire Software to add what they call Visitor-Aware check systems. The system scans visitors’ IDs and can flag unregistered guests using facial recognition. It is monitored and operated by school staff.
“You know it’s been our goal, for Madison schools and even other school districts within the areas, to be able to provide an environment for teachers and students where they can feel safe and comfortable knowing who is in the building or out of the building at any point in time,” said President and CEO of Singlewire Software Terry Swanson.
